Most installed fences cost $20 to $60 per linear foot in 2026, which works out to $3,000 to $9,000 for 150 feet. Those are national numbers. What a Lubbock fence costs depends on the material, the height, how many gates you need and how hard the ground is to dig.
The price ranges on this page are national figures published by HomeGuide for 2026. They are not our quotes. Labor, material prices and the conditions on your lot in the Lubbock area move the real number up or down. Last checked October 2026.

| Material | Installed cost per foot |
|---|---|
| Chain link | $9 to $30 |

| Vinyl | $30 to $60 |
| Aluminum | $25 to $75 |

How much does a 6-foot wood privacy fence cost?
National figures put a 6-foot privacy fence at $25 to $60 per foot installed. The table below gives totals by length for a typical fence at $20 to $60 per foot. A tall, solid fence uses more lumber and needs heavier posts for wind, so it prices toward the higher end of each row.
| Fence length | Typical installed cost |
|---|---|
| 50 feet | $1,000 to $3,000 |
| 100 feet | $2,000 to $6,000 |
| 150 feet | $3,000 to $9,000 |
| 200 feet | $4,000 to $12,000 |
What is the cheapest fence to have installed?
Chain link, which starts around $9 per foot in the national figures. For privacy, a pressure-treated pine picket fence is normally the lowest-cost solid option. If the goal is keeping a large dog in the yard on a budget, 5 or 6 foot chain link works, and it has a bonus on the plains: wind passes through it, so the posts carry far less load than they do on a solid fence.
Is black aluminum cheaper than wrought iron or vinyl?
Yes for iron, and about even with vinyl. Aluminum runs $25 to $75 per foot, which is cheaper than wrought iron at $50 to $85 and overlaps vinyl at $30 to $60. Aluminum does not rust and it lets the wind through, two reasons it is popular around Lubbock pools and front yards.
How much extra does a gate cost?
A gate is priced as its own item, not by the foot. Width, material and hardware set the price. A walk gate adds the least. A double gate to the alley or a driveway gate with an opener adds the most, because the posts have to be heavier. Ask for every gate to be listed on its own line of the quote.
How much extra for a slope, brush or an old fence?
Most Lubbock yards are flat, so slope is rarely the issue here. The usual extras are tearing out and hauling off the old fence and its concrete, clearing vines or volunteer trees on the line, and caliche. Caliche is a hard, chalky layer under much of the South Plains, and it can turn a quick post hole into slow work. Nobody can price these from a photo. We look at the yard first.
I got three quotes and they are far apart. Which one is realistic?
Put the three side by side and compare the scope before the totals. Look at footage, height, wood species or vinyl grade, post type and depth, the number of gates, tear-out, permit and clean-up. In this area also check whether the posts are wood or galvanized steel, because that changes both the price and how the fence handles wind. A bid well under the rest has usually dropped one of those items.
Does a fence add value to my home?
A sound fence makes a house easier to sell, and buyers with dogs or kids often expect one. It seldom returns everything you spent on it. As for property taxes, the Lubbock Central Appraisal District sets the value of your property, so questions about a fence and your appraisal go to that office.
