The price ranges on this page are national figures published by HomeGuide for 2026. They are not our quotes. Labor, material prices and the conditions on your lot in the Lubbock area move the real number up or down. Last checked October 2026.

How much does it cost to fix a leaning fence?
The price tracks the number of posts that have failed, because a lean starts at the posts. One or two posts is a standard repair. When a whole run rocks back and forth in the wind, resetting posts one at a time costs more in the end than rebuilding that run.
Why is my fence leaning, and can it be fixed without replacing it?
In Lubbock the answer is nearly always wind. A solid privacy fence takes a heavy push in every spring blow, and posts that are too light, too shallow or set in a small footing work loose. Wood posts also rot where they meet the ground, often near a sprinkler head. When the pickets and rails are still good, new posts are enough and the rest of the fence stays.
How much does it cost to replace a rotted fence post?
One or two posts is a standard repair, $300 to $900 in the national figures. The old post and its concrete come out, a new post goes in deeper, and the rails are fastened back on. A hole that hits caliche or sits beside a sprinkler line takes more time.
My gate sags and will not latch. Repair or replace?
Repair it in most cases. A gate sags because the hinge post has moved, the hinges are worn or the gate frame has gone out of square. Resetting the post, adding a diagonal brace and moving the latch solves it. Wide alley gates are the ones that suffer most here. Replace the gate only when its frame is rotted or bent.
How much does a contractor charge to fix a broken gate latch?
That is a minor repair, usually $100 to $300 by national 2026 figures. Many companies have a minimum trip charge, so save up the loose pickets and other small items and have them done on the same visit.
My fence posts came loose after a windy spring and the gate will not close. Can they be reset?
Yes, but tamping dirt around them will not hold. In colder states this problem is frost heave. Here the frost line is shallow, about 12 inches in the City of Lubbock's building code table, and wind does the damage instead. The lasting fix is to pull the post and footing and set a new one deeper, in a wider hole, with concrete.
My fence line goes wavy every spring. Is it the soil or a bad installation?
Some of each. Clay soils on the South Plains shrink when dry and swell when wet, and sandy spots give a post less grip. Wind then pushes the loose posts in different directions. Posts that are deep enough and properly sized stay in line in the same soil, so a rebuilt fence only goes wavy again if it is set the same way as the old one.
A branch bent my aluminum fence. Do I need a whole new panel?
Maybe not. On some aluminum fences a single rail or a few pickets can be changed. Others come as assembled panels, and the whole section between two posts is swapped. A photo of the damage and of a post connection usually tells us which kind you have.
